Impact

SDCompass aims both to be profitable and to contribute to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, through the projects it supports.

SDGs represent shared value objectives, agreed through a wide and legitimate process by Member States of the United Nations in articulation with public, private, and civil sector leaders.

SDCompass’s intended impact in the next 5 years (2017-2020) will be framed in the following SDGs, Sub-SDGs and indicators as follows:

ODS 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

Renewable energy sources have nearly unrestricted supply, can be easily replaced, and are less polluting. These sources include water, solar, wind, biogas, biomass, municipal solid waste, geothermal, and seas. Non-renewable energy sources are available in limited supplies, cannot be easily replaced by natural means, and are usually more polluting. These sources include petroleum derivatives, natural gas, coal, and nuclear.
α The formula used to convert kWh to m3 of CO2 equivalent is the one provided by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the website
https://www.epa.gov/energy/greenhouse-gas-equivalencies-calculator, assuming that 1 MW = 1000 kWh x 8 hours x 365 days = 2.9 million kWh
